The Emerging Contours of the Medium explores a crucial aspect of media thinking, focusing particularly on the ‚mediality‘ of literature, a medium that remains today on the margins of the theoretical discussion of media. The book was written by a collective of authors based in the Institute of Czech Literature, Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic. The book is divided into three parts, which correlate to the three main research areas of the principles for a media theory of literature. Part 1 develops a perspective of the (pre)history of media thinking, grounding the principles of the genealogical integration. Part 2 concentrates on and develops the related perspectives of media philosophy and media anthropology. Trh a kapitál v české kultuře 19. století – 44. plzeňské mezioborové sympozium 29. února – 2. března 2024
Proměna středoevropské ekonomiky z rurální v průmyslovou byla spojena mj. s koncentrací kapitálu, který umožňoval podnikatelům přinášet inovace a ostatním vrstvám společnosti podílet se na jejich hospodářských výsledcích. Během 19. století se kapitál stal zásadním předmětem intelektuálních reflexí a postupně pronikal do povědomí všech společenských vrstev spolu s dalšími koncepty rozvíjejícího se ekonomického myšlení, jakými byly představy o vztazích nabídky a poptávky, ekonomických cyklech, utváření cen apod. V důsledku vývoje ekonomiky Českých zemí v průběhu tzv. dlouhého 19. století trh už pro většinu populace nepředstavoval jen více méně předvídatelné místo nákupu a prodeje komodit, ale stal se navíc abstraktní veličinou související v mnoha ohledech například s morálkou a politikou. Nutnost vstupovat se svou produkcí na trh a přizpůsobovat se jeho zákonitostem poznamenala také různé oblasti literární, výtvarné a hudební produkce. After Peter Burke asked the game-changing question “How to be a counter-reformation saint?”, it became clear that there cannot be any saint without a profile established in a vita and further literary sources. Following up, Simon Ditchfield outlined the working definition of early modern writings about saints and candidates to sanctity. Eines der ersten Opfer totalitärer Regime ist die Redefreiheit. Zu den wichtigsten und systematischsten Revolten gehörte der „Samisdat“: die heimliche Veröffentlichung von Publikationen, denen der Zugang zu offiziellen Verlagshäusern und Distributionsnetzen verwehrt war. Dass der Samisdat in der Tschechoslowakei zu einem Massenphänomen wurde, ist vor allem den Leser:innen zu verdanken, auch wenn der Staat die Verbreitung „mangelhafter“ Literatur mit einer Vielzahl von Sanktionen belegte. Die Ausstelung findet man 18. 03. – 13. 05. 2024 in der Galerie auf der Pawlatsche (Institut für Slawistik, Universität ) und die Vernissage wird am 18. März 2024 um 18:30 Uhr stattfinden. Archiving, Collecting, and Publishing in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries Deadline April 30, 2024 The Herder Institute Summer Academy invites Early Career Researchers, including Advanced Master Students, Ph.D. Students, and Early Postdocs, to participate in a workshop dealing with the East and Central European diaspora’s experiences of collecting, archiving, and publishing in exile. We invite submissions for 10-15 Minutes Paper presentations on the topics, including, but not limited to: Publishing Houses in exile: national and transnational perspectives; the variety of émigré and publishing and collecting activities and how they affect the production of knowledge on Eastern Europe during the Cold War and after; (re)creation of national cultures in exile Intercultural connections and collections in the diasporas; new and old diasporas’ approaches to publishing and collecting; the role of digital publishing and archiving techniques for enhancing access to émigré collections and archives. Aby bylo možné vzpomínat, vyprávějí se příběhy. Lidé vyprávějí příběhy mimo jiné proto, aby si v paměti udrželi vzpomínky. Čím se ale liší vyprávění příběhů zachycujících traumatické zážitky z války, totalitní represe či katastrofy? Trauma je ze své podstaty nevyslovitelné, a tak se literatura založená na posttraumatickém vyprávění stává vzácnou příležitostí ho emocionálně uchopit. Posttraumatické vyprávění můžeme chápat také jako myšlenkový experiment, jenž pomocí literární fikce vytváří cestu k jádru traumatického zážitku, který by jinak zůstal nesdělitelný. Více informací >

Publikace Marka Přibila Iluze konstrukcí (Máchovy literární zápisníky) prověřuje platnost faktů, jež stály u zrodu hypotéz o těchto pramenech, a zpřesňuje tak nejbližší kontext Máchova Zápisníku i jeho pozici v souboru máchovských dokumentů. Autor zde přezkušuje dohady, jež vycházely jednak z Máchových rukopisů, které byly považovány za fragment většího celku, opíraly se také o cizí torzovité opisy, o Máchovy odkazy, vyskytující se v jeho manuskriptech, a nakonec i o cizí svědectví. Přítomná práce tak vytváří východisko pro další interpretaci dochovaných literárních zápisníku K. H. Máchy a koriguje zároveň jakýkoli další ediční přístup k Máchovým zápisníkům a textům zápisníkového charakteru. Více informací >
20 let slam poetry: Nejlepší česká slam poetry 2003–2023
Tato kniha je reprezentativním sborníkem české slam poetry, který reflektuje její vývoj od roku 2003 až k 20letému výročí v roce 2023. Záměrem editora bylo obsadit do sborníku texty, které zasáhly do dějin českého slamu, z nichž některé na pódiích po celé ČR a možná i skrze videozáznamy doslova zlidověly. Nevešla se spousta výstupů, textů, na papír nepřenositelných improvizací a výrazných osobností, které českou scénu slam poetry postupně formovaly. A tak je tato kniha artefakt, který je nekorektní a subjektivně uchopený, stejně jako jakýkoli poetry slam, když se v něm soutěží. Více informací >
